After being liberated from slavery under Pharaoh in Egypt, Moses and the Israelites wandered in the wilderness of the Sinai peninsula before reaching the doorstep of the Promised Land. The Israelites’ aimless 40 year journey is colored with many notable moments-a census and near mutinies, the creation of the Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle, gooey manna and hardy quail falling from the sky, the false worship of a golden calf and the giving of the laws (twice!).
